While Baker began his technical career in the professional sound and lighting industry, his always-present entrepreneurial spirit and love of systems communication and management led him into forming an information technology and consulting business, Complete Solution Systems. For years, Baker and his partner worked with clients developing and implementing systems that helped them streamline their operations and grow their businesses.
In 1995, Baker and his partner merged their company with CDS Solutions Group. Within three years, Baker was president and owner of the company and began to lead the 25+ employee strong company with a new strategic vision -- to be the driving force behind retail management. As a result, CDS has become known as an innovator within the industry and continues to develop premier systems and business solutions designed exclusively for the big-ticket specialty retailer.
Baker's reputation as a valued strategic partner has been earned through his extensive work with CEO's and business owners from all over the USA and internationally. Assisting companies in implementing business "best practices" and automating through software and operating systems, Baker always ensures that his clients have the right information in front of the right person at the right time. It may sound simple, but Baker stresses that relevant, reliable information that is available in real time is the key to operating, evaluating and positioning a business for growth. And with Baker's expertise within the retail industry, that's just what companies that work with him do -- they grow.
To bring his insights to more people within the retail environment, Baker has developed a series of workshops and seminars that are specifically aimed at helping the specialty retailer evaluate and grow their business. Participants in these workshops have found that Baker conveys useful, common sense applications with immediate "take-home" value. Baker finds these workshops a great way to interact with retailers and stay in tune with the everyday issues and concerns they face in today's marketplace.
In addition to his role at CDS Solutions Group, Baker is also an active member of Vistage ®, a world-wide network of more than 10,000 progressive and practiced chief executives and business leaders, offering executive coaching, peer-counseling, and mentoring opportunities to its members. A member for ten years, Baker continues to benefit and grow as a professional from his participation in the organization and now enjoys serving as a speaker, as well as a coach and mentor to new members. |
