and MakeAMotion (www.makeamotion.net),
were created to assist government officials in enhancing access to public information
through online meeting videos. “We believe being the video sponsor of this event
is an ideal fit and a great way to share our commitment to open government with
other supporters,” states CDS Group CEO Ren Baker. “Now, people who are unable to
attend can watch the live webcast and still gain insight in to the topics discussed.”
Gov 2.0 Camp New England was an “unconference” on the use of social media tools
and Web 2.0 technologies to create a more effective, efficient and collaborative
government. Over 200 people attended the event, which was sponsored and hosted by
the Harvard Kennedy School, Joan Shorenstein Center on the Press, Politics and Public
Policy. Attendees included elected officials, government employees, students, researchers,
and constituents interested in improving government through social media and Web
2.0 technology.
The day was kicked off by a number of 5-minute lightning talks on Gov 2.0 topics.
Sessions topics included open data, citizen engagement, public meeting engagement,
social media, mapping 2.0, Newbie, cities, counties and state government, etc.
